I trust your summer is off to a good start. Everyone at LOT Network would like to thank Director Iancu, our members and the sponsors who made the 2019 LOT Network Bridge at The Palace Hotel in San Francisco a huge success. Attendee feedback showed that this year’s annual members’ meeting had the expected practical and relevant content, while also offering attendees a great opportunity for members to network with each other.
For those who could not attend, here are some key highlights:
Director Iancu delivered the keynote presentation and was very complimentary of LOT Network during his fireside chat: “So you [LOT Network], collectively have identified the specific problem that is relevant to your members, you have identified a specific strategy to address …I think that’s why you’ve grown so fast. Your members are some of the biggest IP owners in the world, so IP is very important to them, so they are narrowly addressing the problems they see in the system, while through the agreement you have, preserving the traditional role that folks have seen over time, of the patent system.”
Executives from Google, Microsoft, Seagate, JC Penney, Seagate, Lenovo, Ant Financial, Uber, Facebook, Cruise, Square, Pure Storage, Ring Central, and Bitmovin gave great presentations. They shared their insights on everything from AI, to blockchain, to advance patent prosecution strategies, patent challenges, claim charting, patent purchasing and even IP strategies for China.
Update on our growth:
- LOT has more than doubled in size since our last members’ meeting, as we now have over 450 members! Moreover, we truly have become an international organization:
- LOT also counts 10 of the largest holders of blockchain IP as members, as well as 10 of the largest holders of AI patents:
Given our international growth in the past year, we realize there are many members who wanted to attend BRIDGE, but travel was prohibitive. We are currently planning a members’ meeting in China in the fall, as well as an event in Europe. We are currently looking for member companies or law firms to help us host such events, as well as for speakers to provide content. Please let me know if you are interested in participating as a host or speaker.
We will send out invitations as more details become available.
In the meantime, please feel free to reach out to me or anyone on the LOT team if we can help. We hope you have a wonderful summer.
