5G SEP Transparency Project (5GTP):
Make informed decisions about 5G SEPs

As 5G technology transforms markets from mobile devices to automotive, IoT, computing, communications, network infrastructure and more, we are working to reduce the confusion around the 5G SEP landscape. By facilitating a non-partisan, collaborative, comprehensive perspective on 5G declared SEPs, we create visibility into the landscape of patents relevant for IP executives making SEP licensing, IP strategy, and other high-stakes decisions.

Who can participate?

All 5G technology developers, adopters, users and patentees in markets like mobile devices, mobile infrastructure equipment and software (including RAN, Core, MEC, and O-RAN), automotive, IoT, mobile services, mobile semiconductors, consumer electronics and more. LOT members and non-members alike are welcome.

Join industry leaders now and share perspectives on developing the best 5G SEP landscape.

Approach

5GTP is an ongoing, multi-year, comprehensive study of all patents declared essential to 5G standards. We leverage the best insights of the world’s top SEP experts to develop and execute a rigorous, efficient analytical process. 5GTP will make its Phase 2 database available in 2021, covering over 10,000 declared families.

Frequently asked questions

LOT Network is a non-partisan, tax exempt US 501(c)(6) corporation that is not controlled by any cellular SEP licensing party. LOT is simply facilitating this initiative, and is not acting as a policy advocate or litigant. No LOT membership dues are used to fund the 5GTP.

LOT Network is a non-profit trade association and sees 5G transparency as a global issue. LOT saw a need for this based upon member feedback, and true transparency cannot be achieved without widespread participation. Thus, participation in the initiative is open to both members and non-members alike.

Not at this time, but client technology developers, adopters, users, and patentees may.  Our offerings may expand in the future to accommodate others.

IP strategists, portfolio developers / managers, licensing executives, litigators and patent transaction executives working in technology developers, adopters, users and patentees are among the most likely users.

Our participants and sponsors include some of the world’s leading names in 5G markets, including leading licensors, technology developers, adopters, users and patentees.
