LOT Network, a non-profit community of over 6,100 companies committed to protecting innovation from the threat of patent assertion entities (PAEs), today announced the expansion of its patent donation program with a new contribution from Meta. The program aims to support promising early-stage technology companies by granting access to high-value, non-core patents. LOT Network members collectively hold over 6 million patent assets worldwide, making it the largest defensive patent network in the world.
This initiative is part of LOT Network’s broader effort to help innovative startups de-risk their growth by strengthening their intellectual property (IP) position. Meta’s contribution includes a portfolio of U.S. patents spanning areas such as machine learning, user interface design, anomaly detection, network security, social data applications, and digital communications. These are foundational technologies for modern startups across AI, enterprise SaaS, cybersecurity, and next-gen consumer applications.
The program will be offered to venture-backed startups as well as through select venture groups, accelerators, corporate innovation arms, and other institutional investors. In addition, LOT Network will consider select early-stage companies outside of these categories on a case-by-case basis.
Meta, which joined LOT Network in 2017, shares a long-standing belief in the importance of limiting the misuse of patents. By making these assets available to qualified young companies, the program gives startups a critical edge—enabling them to build defensible products, attract capital, and navigate competitive markets with greater confidence.
Startups and investors interested in participating in the Meta patent program can contact Tyler Aroner for more information and eligibility details.
