As we close out another milestone year at LOT Network, it’s clear that the momentum behind our mission has never been stronger.
This year alone, over 1,000 companies have joined LOT, bringing us to more than 5,700 members —putting us on track for yet another record year of growth. The world’s most innovative organizations continue to recognize that LOT membership is not just a safeguard against patent risk—it’s a strategic advantage in an era when collaboration and resilience define success.
I’m also proud to share that the world’s largest patent holder, Samsung Electronics, has now joined LOT Network. This expands our collective coverage to an extraordinary level: over 24% of all active U.S. patents are now under the LOT license. The world’s three largest smartphone manufacturers are all now part of LOT. And within our membership, you’ll find 30% of the S&P 500 and over half of the Fortune 100.
This level of engagement underscores a simple truth: LOT has become an essential part of how leading companies manage IP risk responsibly, while ensuring that innovation can continue to thrive.
Looking ahead, I’m excited about what’s next. On October 1, 2026, we’ll host our annual member meeting, LOT Network BRIDGE, at the Rosewood Hotel Sand Hill, where the LOT community will come together once again to share ideas, insights, and connections that shape the future of IP. One highlight: Jon Squires, Under Secretary of Commerce for Intellectual Property and Director of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), and David Kappos, who has previously held that title, will headline a Director-to-Director fireside chat—a conversation you won’t want to miss.
Not only have we seen record growth in our community, but we have also seen a dramatic increase in the number of LOT members who are actively selling assets. This is likely given the economic environment, but so far, we’ve identified 6 (six) companies that have been sued by NPEs using assets from LOT Network members. These are lawsuits and expenses that could have been avoided had those companies been in LOT Network.
Thank you to every member, partner, and friend of LOT Network for helping us reach new heights. Your leadership and trust are what make this community thrive. Together, we’re proving that collaboration is the best defense—and that when we stand together, innovation wins.
Warm regards,
Ken Seddon
CEO, LOT Network
