Leadership

Frank Sedlarcik

Vice President and Assistant General Counsel at IBM

As Vice President and Assistant General Counsel at IBM, I lead the Litigation, Research & Intellectual Property legal team where I help shape legal strategy at the intersection of cutting-edge innovation and IP protection.

Over nearly two decades at IBM, I’ve held leadership roles spanning litigation, IP law, compliance, and global operations. My experience includes serving as Corporate Secretary to the IBM Board of Directors, leading teams while based in Asia Pacific, and driving global compliance initiatives.

I began my legal career in patent litigation at Quinn Emanuel and Morgan & Finnegan, and earlier worked in public service at the Manhattan DA’s Office. I hold a J.D. from Fordham University and a B.S. in Engineering & Management from Clarkson University, and I’m a registered U.S. Patent Attorney.

I’m passionate about advancing innovation through thoughtful legal strategy and collaboration. Outside of work, I enjoy biking, golfing, and spending time with my wife and children.
