HP has joined LOT Network.
This is a significant addition to our ever-growing ranks, a savvy choice by a company that understands what LOT Network offers to members, “a targeted, voluntary, and practical measure that helps reduce a specific category of risk, while preserving our full ability to develop, license, and enforce our IP portfolio,” according to Ceyda Maisami, VP, Associate General Counsel, IP & Standards, HPÂ
What does HP’s decision mean for you, our members?Â
LOT counts many of the largest patent holders in the world among its 6,300+ members, including leaders across virtually every industry and geography. And, as we are proud to share always, we have thousands of mid-level and smaller companies, all of which benefit from the same immunization as each other if a patent falls into the hands of a patent assertion entity (PAE). Â
The addition of HP into our membership roster means that members are now immunized from PAE risk from more than 25% of US patents, an impressive figure made possible, in part, by the 25,000+ patent assets in HP’s portfolio.Â
Ceyda understands the significance here. As she told me, “By joining LOT, HP brings a significant global patent portfolio into the LOT community, reinforcing the strength and scale of the network and contributing to broader industry efforts to reduce unnecessary litigation through efficient licensing.”
Why is HP joining LOT Network?Â
Ceyda emphasized, “HP has a long-standing commitment to innovation and to building high-quality intellectual property that supports our business, our customers, and our partners. We believe durable IP value comes from clear patentable subject matter, strong and well-supported claims, and practical enforceability. That foundation is critical to ensuring a balanced and effective patent system.”
Membership in LOT Network is a part of HP’s broader IP philosophy, including the company’s long-standing commitment to:
- Â Strong, enforceable patentsÂ
- A balanced, high‑quality IP ecosystem Â
- Proactive risk mitigation through licensing
At LOT Network, we are thrilled to welcome HP to our membership ranks, and we applaud the company for their commitment to innovation and collaboration.Â
We look forward to seeing HP continue to work with industry partners, customers, and peers to support a collaborative and resilient innovation ecosystem.
