Rodger spent over a decade as an IP litigator (and ultimately as partner) at the Orrick law firm in New York. He then worked in-house with Canon, advising senior management in Asia and the U.S. on IP protection, licensing, and litigation issues. To build on this experience and to expand his experience with emerging tech, Rodger spent three and a half years working at a VC firm in New York, where he advised Chinese and U.S. AI-focused startups on product and IP development strategies. As a champion of innovation Rodger worked as Senior Counsel with the global IP Center of Excellence at Bank of Montreal (BMO Financial Group).
